Boost SEO & Web Traffic

Get more traffic to your website with creative content people find valuable and relevant, such as blogs and how-to videos about topics related to your business. By creating content that people are looking for, you can increase your website’s ranking in search engine results, which drives even more people to your website.

Establish Expertise, Authority & Trust

With quality helpful content, you can create blog posts, videos, or other types of content that prove your business knows its stuff, and that you can be trusted to provide quality products or services. Content creation helps show potential clients or customers that you’re an expert in your field, and that they can trust you.

Create Brand Awareness

Content marketing is an effective way of creating digital awareness for your brand. By creating interesting blogs, eBooks, videos, and social media posts that share information about your offerings, potential customers will be more likely to remember your brand and consider it when they’re looking for the product or service you offer.

Let Your Brand Personality Shine Through

Content creation is great for showing off your brand’s personality. Customers trust (and buy) brands they know, trust, or whose values they admire. So, content that shows people that you understand them and can help them with their needs, allows potential customers to get to know your brand better and connect with it emotionally.

Connect Through Multiple Learning Formats

We can help create content about your products or services that resonates with customers across different platforms, channels, and in different formats such as social media, websites, podcasts, and email campaigns. We can put you in the same room with your customer to help build those all-important relationships.

Fuel Social Engagement & PR Results

With the right content, like blog posts, videos, podcasts, and press releases shared on social media, more people get to know your industry. Due to the nature of social media, if your content is interesting, it will get shared – sometimes with friends and family, sometimes with potential customers, sometimes with reporters looking for the next big trend story.

Customer Support Throughout the Conversion Funnel

Through content marketing, you can provide your audience with useful information that helps them understand your company’s offerings, from the top of the funnel (getting to know you) to the bottom (making a purchase). This helps you nurture relationships with your audience and support them throughout the sales conversion funnel.

Boost Lead Generation

Content creation can help generate more leads by providing interesting and helpful content to potential clients. Their repeated engagement builds trust. And once they trust you, they’re much more likely to buy from you. Remember, content marketing helps take your customer relationship to the second, third, fourth date and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions? We have answers.

Content marketing helps businesses establish authority and drive profitable customer action by delivering value before the sale. A well-executed content marketing strategy addresses your clearly defined audience's needs at each stage of the customer journey, from awareness to consideration to decision. By publishing high-quality content consistently across blog posts, social media platforms, and video content, you build trust while simultaneously improving your search engine optimization. Unlike traditional advertising, content marketing creates a helpful resource that continues generating leads and organic traffic long after publication. Businesses with documented content strategies experience higher conversion rates, better qualified leads, and stronger customer relationships—all critical components for sustainable business growth.

No, content marketing and copywriting serve different but complementary purposes in your overall marketing strategy. Content marketing focuses on creating and distributing valuable, relevant content to attract and engage a clearly defined audience, ultimately driving profitable customer action through relationship-building. This might include blog posts, video content, and social media posts covering relevant topics that position your brand as a helpful resource. Copywriting, meanwhile, is persuasive writing specifically crafted to prompt immediate action—whether that's making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or requesting more information. While content marketers aim to solve problems and educate through quality content, copywriters focus on conversion rate optimization. A comprehensive marketing team leverages both: content marketing to build audience relationships and trust, and copywriting to convert that audience into customers when they're ready to buy.

Content marketing encompasses a diverse ecosystem of formats designed to engage your target audience throughout their customer journey. Blog posts form the foundation of many content strategies, establishing your brand as a thought leader while improving organic traffic through search engine optimization. Email newsletters maintain ongoing relationships by delivering personalized, relevant content directly to subscribers. Video content—including tutorials, webinars, and behind-the-scenes glimpses—creates compelling experiences that increase engagement across social media platforms. Data-driven infographics transform complex information into shareable visual assets that demonstrate your expertise. Podcasts build intimate connections through audio storytelling while reaching audiences during commutes or workouts. Interactive content like quizzes, calculators, and assessments generates valuable first-party data while providing personalized value to your clearly defined audience. Case studies and white papers serve the later stages of the customer journey, addressing decision-stage concerns with substantive proof points. The most effective content marketing strategy integrates multiple formats tailored to both your business goals and your audience's content consumption preferences.

A comprehensive content marketing strategy requires these five foundational elements to effectively drive business growth:

  1. Clearly Defined Audience: Develop detailed buyer personas based on demographics, psychographics, and behavioral data. Understanding your target audience's pain points, preferred social media platforms, and content consumption habits enables your marketing team to create truly relevant content that resonates.
  2. Documented Strategy with SMART Goals: Create a written content strategy with Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely objectives. This documented strategy should map content types to each stage of the customer journey and outline how your content supports the broader marketing strategy.
  3. Compelling Value Proposition: Articulate why your content is worth consuming over competitors'. Your content should solve specific problems, answer burning questions, or provide unique insights that position your brand as a helpful resource for your defined audience.
  4. Consistent Brand Voice and Identity: Establish guidelines for your content's tone, style, visual elements, and messaging to ensure consistency across all content creation efforts—from blog posts to video content to social media posts. This consistency builds recognition and trust throughout the customer journey.
  5. Measurement Framework: Implement analytics that track both content performance and business impact. Beyond basic metrics like organic traffic and social engagement, sophisticated content marketers measure conversion rate optimization, lead quality, and how content directly influences profitable customer action.

The most successful content marketers regularly revisit and refine these elements as market conditions change and they gather insights from performance data.

A good content marketing strategy is a comprehensive, documented plan that aligns content creation with business objectives to drive profitable customer action. The most effective strategies include:

  1. Audience Persona Development: Beyond basic demographics, define your clearly defined audience through psychographic details, content consumption habits, and specific pain points. This deep understanding enables your marketing team to create highly relevant topics that resonate.
  2. Distinctive Brand Positioning: Articulate how your content approach differs from competitors and reflects your unique value. This positioning informs your content's voice, format choices, and distribution across social media platforms.
  3. Owned Media Value Proposition: Define why your target audience should consume your blog posts, video content, and social media posts instead of competitors'. This proposition should address specific needs at each stage of the customer journey.
  4. Business Case and ROI Projection: Outline how your content strategy will generate measurable business growth through specific metrics—from organic traffic and search engine optimization benefits to lead generation and conversion rate optimization.
  5. Actionable Implementation Plan: Create a practical roadmap with editorial calendars, content creation workflows, quality content standards, and promotion tactics across social media platforms. This plan should include both quick wins and long-term SEO content initiatives.
  6. Measurement Framework: Establish clear KPIs that connect content performance to business outcomes, allowing you to refine your strategy based on which content types most effectively drive profitable customer action.

The most successful content marketers document their strategy formally, review performance regularly, and adapt their approach based on audience response and business results.

Content marketing works because it aligns with how modern consumers make purchasing decisions. Rather than interrupting with promotional messages, content marketing provides helpful resources that address specific needs throughout the customer journey. When you consistently deliver high-quality content on relevant topics, you build trust with your clearly defined audience before they're ready to buy.

The psychology behind content marketing's effectiveness is multi-faceted. First, it leverages reciprocity—when your brand freely provides valuable information through blog posts and video content, audiences feel naturally inclined to reciprocate. Second, content establishes authority in your field, positioning your brand as an expert resource. Third, quality content improves your search engine optimization, increasing organic traffic as you answer the exact questions your target audience is asking online.

Most importantly, content marketing works because it's customer-centric rather than product-centric. By focusing on solving problems through helpful content rather than promoting features, you enter the conversation already happening in your potential customers' minds. This builds more meaningful relationships than traditional advertising and creates multiple touchpoints across social media platforms and other channels, shortening sales cycles and improving conversion rates for sustainable business growth.

Matt Erney
STRATEGIC MARKETING DIRECTOR
After founding Social Firm in 2010, I learned that having a healthy business online requires an equal balance of messaging, design and marketing. My vision is to help businesses compete in the marketplace by simplifying, clarifying and then amplifying their message.

I currently lead the Strategic Marketing team at Social Firm. I believe that to achieve greatness, one must be intentional and move quickly with focus beyond one’s self. I love Columbus and am energized by helping businesses realize their digital potential.
Jason Willis
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Like many in the design world, I started out as a freelance. My early career was on the sales and marketing side of business, and I’ve worked with, and for several large companies. However, my greatest joy is helping and sharing in the success of locally owned organizations.

When I’m not tailgating at an OSU game or playing tennis, I love traveling and creating new experiences with my best girl Kelly and my "little gentleman" dog Charlie. I like visiting all the new restaurants popping up around town and seeing which one can make the best Old Fashioned.
Julie Englerth
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Julie is fully remote and hails from Longview, Texas, deep in the heart of the “Piney Woods” of East Texas where she lives with her husband and three amazing kids. She is also an experienced worship leader at her local church where her husband is a full-time worship pastor. Julie is passionate about encouraging and empowering people around her, leading worship, leading small groups at her church, or spending time with her loved ones.

She works closely with Matt in day-to-day communications and strategic planning. She has a knack for learning new things quickly!
Laura Elliott
Senior Digital Strategist
I have been in the digital marketing space since graduating from Xavier University in 2012 and I have experience in both the B2C and B2B realms. I specialize in digital advertising and have seen how it has evolved and grown over time. It has been exciting to keep up with all the new developments and changes throughout the years in the world of advertising and I thoroughly enjoy researching ways to leverage these changes to improve success for my clients. Throughout my career, I’ve honed and adapted my skills in data analytics and lead generation and enjoy learning about new industries and driving success for each of my clients!

When I’m not at work, I love to spend time with my family and traveling. My main goal is to travel all over the world with my husband and son!
Ally Gatien
DIGITAL SPECIALIST
Since graduating from the University of Dayton in 2021 with a focus in Marketing, I have worked for both a small local media agency and a large television station. In my professional career, I am most recently coming from a Digital Sales Coordinator role where I was able to focus in on all Digital Marketing tactics after learning about the world of broadcast TV. I am passionate about helping others and I look forward to being able to help countless local businesses as a Digital Specialist on a more efficient and effective scale!
Geno Marinelli
DIGITAL SPECIALIST
A fresh graduate from The Ohio State University, I’m excited to absorb as much as I possibly can! With prior experience in both advertising creative and strategy, I’m excited to learn from the best. I enjoy staying ahead of the curve, understanding or contextualizing the latest trends and developments in tech and Marketing. If there’s a disruptor, I want to know how it works, why it’s working, and if it can work for us.

As a Digital Marketing Specialist, I will assist in strategy, implementing changes and new initiatives on behalf of our clients helping them to reach their goals and achieve results. My favorite part of any final reveal is the before and after; the side-by-side comparison of the old and the new motivates me to always be looking for new and innovative ideas.
Terence Womble
CONTENT MANAGER
I spent the first half of my career working in public relations and marketing mostly in New York City but also in Toronto, Philadelphia and Columbus. Even with clients as diverse as Philip Morris, The Philadelphia Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Shakespeare in Central Park, CAPA, Jazz Arts Group, or Broadway shows, the common theme has been compelling stories. Helping craft and share stories for our clients is my passion.

Other passions? Sure. Tennis, jazz, classical music and classic disco; reading, documentaries, fact-based dramas, and forensic crime shows. I also enjoy a perfectly mixed and presented Manhattan – up or on the rocks.
Sheena Erney
ACCOUNTING
I spent over 10 years in corporate banking and quit corporate life to be a stay-at-home mom before my second child turned one. I love taking my four little ones on adventures, but I missed the hustle and bustle of work life. It’s exciting to work for a small business where we can so easily stay up to date and develop our processes as business needs change. Best of all, I get to work with my husband!

When I'm not working, I enjoy golf, reading, traveling and playing cards. Watching our four children learn and grow is one of the greatest joys of my life.
Doug Bierl
STRATEGIC PROJECT MANAGER
I have an inherent desire to help people and I like to figure out how to best connect people with something they need. That led me to a career in marketing and client services, primarily in marketing strategy and planning in product management, advertising account management, and marketing consulting.

When I’m not at work, you may see me walking the streets of Westerville with my wife, Julaine, or in a cafe meeting with a guy talking about life and faith. I value time with family, staying physically active and being outdoors brings me energy and joy.
